“Unlimited Potential took a chance on me and gave me the opportunity I was looking for.”

My background before joining Unlimited Potential

Before I started working at Unlimited Potential, I was a business manager for international law firm Eversheds Sutherland. Before that, I had been a personal/executive assistant and legal PA for around 15 years.

My role at Unlimited Potential

Whilst at Unlimited Potential, I worked as a Lifestyle Coach for the Empower You service. I supported disabled people to get more physically active by visiting them in their homes, conducting health checks and finding out how they wanted to get more active. From there, I supported them in accessing these activities – sometimes by meeting them there, and sometimes by training up fitness instructors to adapt their activities to make them more inclusive.

What most benefitted me from being with Unlimited Potential and what difference it made to me

Unlimited Potential took a chance on me and gave me the opportunity I was looking for to work within the fitness industry. It gave me the creative space I needed to figure out how I was going to find my place and support vulnerable and inactive people into exercise.

What I have gone on to do/achieve since I left Unlimited Potential

I now look after a charity I started called the MileShyClub, of which I am now the chief executive. It helps people get more active to improve their physical and mental health. It currently has 14 volunteer-led beginner run clubs across four boroughs of Greater Manchester, 7 beginner walking clubs and even a mental health group supporting people in drug and alcohol recovery. I am also a non-executive director of Beyond Empower CIC which includes the Empower You service.
