Purpose
To provide improved support for adult carers in their locality, improved information dissemination and signposting for carers, and improved opportunities for breaks from caring.

Activity
We developed locally based carers’ support in areas of Salford where there was a lower than average number of local support groups and/or a higher than average number of carers: Claremont and Weaste; Little Hulton and north Walkden; and Irlam and Cadishead. This particularly involved both identifying and engaging carers, and establishing and supporting carer-led drop-in groups, as well as regular digital communication.

Impact
An independent evaluation concluded that carers valued the carers’ development worker and that carers’ lives improved as a result. The approach positively impacted on the health, well-being and personal development of carers.
