Activity
Empower You developed a community’s mainstream physical activity offer to be more accessible, appealing and inclusive whilst generating and supporting demand by disabled people to access these opportunities.
It worked with those around the person to increase their confidence and awareness in supporting activity by disabled people, offering the opportunity to be more active themselves.
At the same time, Empower You upskilled local activity providers and support staff to an accredited level.
This created a broader network of knowledgeable, mainstream support for disabled people to access, along with accessible opportunities, enabling disabled people to sustain their physical activity without need for specialist support.

Impact
85% of people sustained their activity levels for at least three months beyond Empower You.
There were improvements to all physical health outcomes with a highly significant improvement to body mass index, blood pressure and forced expiratory volume.
There were improvements to all well-being outcomes with significant improvements in areas relating to lifestyle, looking after yourself, management of symptoms, work, volunteering and other activities, where you live, family and friends and feeling positive.
The wider impact of Empower is reflected in its first Social Impact report for 2020-2021.
Having been incubated by Unlimited Potential, Empower You evolved into Beyond Empower CIC. It helps places #DoItDifferently to support healthy, active lives for disabled people.
