“At Unlimited Potential, … the culture empowered me to take risks, to explore new ideas and to challenge myself.”

My background before joining Unlimited Potential

I was fortunate to complete my placement in Health and Exercise Sciences at the University of Salford at CHAP (which became Unlimited Potential), where I worked on an exercise referral programme. During my time there, I knew how much I enjoyed working with the community and had a great support network while learning. As I graduated, I saw opportunities for Health Trainer roles. My placement gave me a valuable insight into community work and I knew I wanted to continue supporting my community full-time.

my role at Unlimited Potential

I began my career as a Health Trainer, working with individuals for up to three months, supporting them to improve their well-being through healthier lifestyle choices. I engaged with people to identify their priorities, addressed lifestyle issues, and together, we created personalised action plans to achieve their well-being, education, training, and career goals. I also provided information to help people access further support and advice. During this time, I became familiar with the vibrant local VCSE sector, which has been a key focus of my career ever since.

what most benefitted me from being with Unlimited Potential and what difference it made to me

I spent six rewarding years at Unlimited Potential, where the culture empowered me to take risks, to explore new ideas and to challenge myself. This environment increased my confidence and allowed me to perform at my best. Unlimited Potential invests heavily in the professional development of its team, providing opportunities to build skills and apply them in the real world. The sense of connection within the team was incredible and I still maintain strong relationships with colleagues from that time.

what I have gone on to do/achieve since I left Unlimited Potential

After leaving Unlimited Potential, I continued to collaborate closely with the team, working on two programmes where Unlimited Potential was a partner. Over the years, I have developed a broad range of skills and experience in health, well-being, behaviour change and management. I progressed through roles such as Health and Well-being Coach, Team Leader and Domestic Violence Prevention Co-ordinator.

Currently, I am the Programme Manager for Wellbeing Matters, a VCSE led social prescribing programme. In this role, I lead the programme, working with fantastic partners, including primary care networks, local organisations and the diverse VCSE community groups. I am proud to be part of a programme that helps make a more connected and supportive place.
